Whistl has said it has strengthened its letter collection and sorting division with a series of contract wins that have boosted its downstream access (DSA) volumes. Its biggest win comes in the form of Hotter Shoes, of which it is set to deliver 21 million items a year. It has also agreed mail delivery contracts with Serco and Griffin Media. Ofcom has announced a “fundamental review” into the regulation of Royal Mail, after the withdrawal of Whistl’s final mile delivery service left it without a major competitor in the postal market.
Having fired the starting gun on the sale of its remaining stake in Royal Mail last week, the government is out of the blocks and has sold 15% of its shareholding to institutional investors.
