Vehicle rental firm Ryder has relocated its Northampton operation to larger premises in the Swan Valley area.

The company said the move to the brand new premises  has been driven by growing demand for its truck and trailer rental, contract hire and vehicle maintenance services.

The relocation comes as Ryder continues to expand its rental fleet with the addition of 400 Euro-6 tractor units along with 350 new trailers. The 6x2 tractor units are a combination of MAN, Daf, and Iveco models.

These latest purchases see Ryder running one of the largest Euro-6 fleets in the country.

Bruce Howard, Ryder’s operations director, said: “The increased volume of enquires we’ve received across the East Midlands for our rental trucks and trailers in recent months has meant that, in addition to moving to a superb new location with improved facilities for our customers and expanded workshop capacity, the new depot will be receiving many of the brand new trucks and trailers that Ryder currently has on order.”

He added: “Commercial vehicle rental, whether short term, long term or fixed term contract hire is now proving to be the method of choice for an increasing number of businesses both large and small."

Ryder has also launched a major staff training programme and invested £500,000 in new workshop diagnostics software. Under Ryder’s Euro-6 training programme, all sales staff  have received up to six days training on the technology.
