The consumer delivery subsidiary of Hermes, myHermes, has launched a new international parcel delivery service which aims to support SMEs.

The new service will ship parcels to 190 countries including Australia, China and the USA, at prices myHermes said will rival those of its competitors. Sending an individual parcel to Australia would be £12.51 cheaper using the service instead of Royal Mail, said the group, and £1.55 cheaper if sending it to Germany.

MyHermes said it wants to challenge the trend of avoiding buying from overseas retailers because of high delivery costs. Research conducted by the group revealed 51% of consumers across the UK, France and Germany listed this as the main deterrent from shopping with foreign retailers.

The service includes end-to-end tracking of parcels, which can be monitored online.

Carole Woodhead, CEO of myHermes, said: “The world is becoming an increasingly smaller place and therefore delivery standards and price play a key part in enabling overseas customers to purchase from domestic retailers.

"The demand for UK products, especially fashion items, is high and continues to grow so we wanted to develop a service that provides smaller businesses with seamless access to as many countries as possible.”
