The UK MD of Gefco has said that the 3PL will be more profitable in the future, as it has made moves to strengthen its offering both inside, and outside, of the automotive logistics market.

Speaking to Motortransport.co.uk at Multimodal, Tristan Balayn admitted the company’s profitability “was not great” following the economic downturn, but said it’s back on track and ready to take on new challenges.

He said: “We know where we are going now. We are confident about our strengths, and we also understand what we need to improve.”

He said one area Gefco, which recently joined the RHA, had focused on was moving away from being viewed as “the PSA subsidiary”.

Balayn said the company wants to be viewed as “a logistics provider on the market, able to deliver the best standards and show that we’re a commercial, and a commercially focused, company”.
