Dwain McDonald DPD CEO 2015

DPD’s Predict delivery service has won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category.

The award was given to Predict because of its role in what was described as DPD’s recent transformation and “dramatic” growth over the last five years, as well as the quality of the service itself.

Predict gives parcel recipients an hour-long delivery slot as well as the ability to communicate with the handler of their parcel while it’s out for delivery.

Since its launch in 2010, Predict has won, according to the operator, DPD £178m of new business, which has lead to an expansion programme and created more than 2000 new jobs in the UK. The opening of the new Hinckley hub in September will create a further 1000 jobs.

DPD's CEO Dwain McDonald (pictured) said: "This is a tremendous day for DPD and fantastic recognition for all the hard work, from so many people, that went into developing Predict.

"I'm incredibly proud of what we have been able to do in the last five years in terms of UK jobs, wealth creation and growth. 2015 is set to be our biggest year so far, with the opening of our 4th sorting hub which will give us capacity to grow our business even further.
