Gutsell

Palletline has appointed former City Link regional network manager, Richard Gutsell, as its new head of hub operations.

The announcement comes after Palletline revealed its new MD would be former ARR Craib group distribution director, Graham Leitch, who takes the reins following former boss Kevin Buchanan’s exit from the pallet network last summer.

Buchanan subsequently took up the post of MD at rival network Pall-Ex last November.

Gutsell will be responsible for the day-to-day running of Palletline’s multi-hub operations while maintaining service levels, compliance and health and safety.

He added: “Hub operations are absolutely essential to the Palletline business model. Anybody who has witnessed the hubs in full swing will appreciate the accuracy needed to keep them running at optimum efficiency, so I am thrilled to be taking charge of operations and driving all future improvements.”

Leitch said of Gutsell’s appointment: “At this time of growth for the network, operational efficiency and logistics planning are absolutely fundamental.

"With responsibility for maintaining and enhancing our provision of quality, timely and cost-effective services, Richard will become a key member of the team and is a key appointment for us.”

In its most recent trading year, Palletline saw turnover increase 22% to £17.5m, which it attributed to a “significant” increase in hub volumes (up 24%) and a £1m increase in its wholly owned subsidiary London hub’s turnover.
