Plumbing and heating products supplier Wolseley is launching a year-long apprenticeship scheme for aspiring HGV drivers at two of its DCs.

The scheme is being delivered in partnership with Telford College and offers a training package worth £7,000 comprising both classroom-based and on the road training, including technical training, maths and English.

Successful drivers will receive their Level 2 apprenticeship in Driving Goods Vehicles, a category C+E licence, a forklift licence and their Driver CPC at the end of the scheme.

The operator is also training its 123 existing drivers during working hours, offering them the opportunity to acquire their Level 2 certificate in Driving Goods Vehicles.

Four apprenticeship positions are available and are split between its Worcester DC and Marston Gate DC, near Bedford. It begins in April and closing date for applications is 31 January 2015. Applicants must be aged 21 or over, have a clean driving licence and GCSEs in Maths and English. Interested parties should apply here for Marston Gate and here for Worcester.
