18) Danny Glynn, MD, Enterprise Flex-E-Rent/Burnt Tree
What is a car rental guy doing in the MT Power Players you may ask. The answer is that, along with Burnt Tree CEO Richard Metcalfe, Glynn is in charge of Enterprise’s commercial vehicle contract hire and rental firm Flex-E-Rent/Burnt Tree.
The energetic Glynn’ established Flex-E-Rent, the company’s commercial vehicle rental division, in 2010, and this had grown to 11,500 rental vans before it added Burnt Tree’s 15,000 vans and 1,500 trucks to its fleet earlier this year. The combined business will leap to number four in the latest CV Informer rankings of CV rental firms, although it still lags way behind Ryder, Dawsonrentals and CVL in terms of its truck fleet.
But Enterprise has bought the business to grow it, and has already announced a £20m expansion of Burnt Tree’s new Refrigerental temperature controlled truck fleet. Glynn is vague about his ambitions for Burnt Tree but Enterprise is number one in car rental in its home country the US and may well end up claiming top spot in a future CV Informer league table.
