20: Richard Burnett, chief executive, RHA
The incoming CEO of the RHA has a tough challenge redefining the role of an association that almost went bust before his predecessor Geoff Dunning took over in 2009. Falling membership in the depths of the recession and a huge pension deficit meant Dunning’s main job was to get the finances in order.
Now Burnett has to decide where he wants to take the RHA to keep it relevant and attractive to its dwindling target market of small to medium size hauliers. An unusual animal in that he is an RHA boss who has been an operator, Burnett should know what his members want, but can he deliver on their expectations while balancing the books?
