Hot on the heels of the launch of a southern hub, Wolverhampton-based pallet network Pallet-Track has officially launched its first Scottish hub.
The business said the partnership with network shareholder-member Courier Connections from its depot in Bellshill, would help speed up deliveries, cut costs and improve journey times. Pallet-Track recently boosted its network with a raft of new members.
Martin McGeough, owner and MD of Courier Connections, which also has depots in Edinburgh and Perth, said: “We have been part of the Pallet-Track network for seven years and it has meant enhanced IT capability and greater benefits for our customers in Scotland and the north of England through our network partners at Fresh Freight.
“This move is a more formal, commercial extension to what has been operating as a network within a network and helps keep the freight within the region, rather than it travelling back to the Midlands to be re-shipped back to Scotland overnight.
The latest announcement was foreshadowed in February with the launch of a Scottish network for Pallet-Track headed by Courier Connections.
Nigel Parkes, MD, Pallet-Track, said: “Politically, the UK’s relationships with Europe and Scotland may look more certain than they did in September before the Scottish Independence Referendum, but in terms of trade, those links have never been stronger or so important.
“Businesses like ours have to be commercially agnostic to keep the wheels of industry moving. Scotland is an important market for the business and this move underlines and consolidates our position.”
Parkes recently called for the sector to increase pallet rates to support members.
