Middlesbrough-based multimodal haulier AV Dawson has taken delivery of four Actros 2545 trucks with 449hp straight-6 engines and StreamSpace cabs. The trucks were ordered through Bell Truck and Van after the operator trialled Euro-6 models, where an Actros 2545 averaged 8.9mpg. Two of the trucks are being used on long-distance container and general haulage work, while the other two are used on double-shifted work and local deliveries. Maritime Transport has ordered 35 Actros for its general fleet, having put 30 of the trucks on the road as part of a separate deal with Allport Cargo Services.
Following its acquisition of Browns Chilled Distribution in September, Newmarket, Suffolk-based Turners (Soham) has started taking delivery of 50 new Mercedes-Benz Actros tractive units as part of a replacement programme for the Browns fleet.
