Tesco has selected John Raymond Transport as its Grocery and General Merchandise Haulier of the Year.
It recognises John Raymond’s contribution within the supermarket chain’s primary distribution operation, and saw the haulier beat previous winners Maritime and Eddie Stobart to this year’s title.
John Clark, Tesco primary UK operations manager, said: “John Raymond have worked very closely with our primary distribution team to successfully deliver new initiatives. These have meant their volume has grown significantly over the last year, but without any negative impact being felt in the service provided to our distribution centres.”
John Raymond has worked with Tesco Primary since its inception more than 13 years ago.
Paul Johns, MD at John Raymond, said: “We made a conscious decision a few years ago to concentrate on growing our FMCG business with a few key account customers, and Tesco was very high on this list.
“Our Tesco account manager, Martin Mitchell, approached our contacts at Tesco to understand what we needed to do better, and since then we have worked very hard at meeting their requirements. It is very pleasing for everyone at John Raymond to achieve this recognition, it is both a real honour, and reward for everyone’s hard work."
