DPD and Interlink Express parent GeoPost UK has submitted plans to develop a 60,000ft² depot in Cardiff, which will be an addition to its growing network.

The plans submitted to Cardiff City Council for approval include a 50,742ft² warehouse for parcel sortation and a customer collection facility.

The parcel firm also wants to develop parking spaces for 125 vans, five trucks and 12 trailers, as well as 11 loading docks, 31 level access doors for vans and one level access door for HGVs. It also wants permission for refuelling and vehicle wash facilities.

The company anticipates that it will create 130 jobs at the site, but said this may increase to 200 as business grows.

A spokesman for GeoPost UK confirmed that the proposed development forms part of the £75m investment in new or upgraded depots revealed in April, but was unable to provide further detail on the site.
