Dachser has opened its €26m (£21.1m) distribution centre and head office in Northampton, following a period of growth European exports from the UK.
The DC sits on a 7.4 hectare site on the Brackmills industrial site and includes a 64,024ft² cross-docking facility, a 113,666ft² contract logistics warehouse and a 21,032ft² office building. The contract logistics warehouse has space for up to 20,000 racked pallets.
The operator, which also has sites in Dartford and Rochdale, expects to create 40 new roles at the site over the next five years. Over 150 staff are currently employed at the DC.
Dachser UK MD Nick Lowe said: “The Northampton Logistics Centre is connected to the global Dachser network with daily direct freight services.”
“With this new construction, the Northampton location is evolving into an important hub within Dachser’s European network,” he added.
