Eveready Hire

Plant and tool hire specialist Eveready Hire is expanding its fleet, after taking delivery of three Euro-5 rigids on contract hire from Ryder.

Two 18-tonne Daf LF55s and one 26-tonne MAN TGF join the fleet at the ten-year old own-account operator and will run out of its depots in Watford, Leatherhead and Godstone.

Everyready MD Colum Mannix said: “After looking at a number of vehicle acquisition options we concluded that contract hire vehicles from Ryder not only met all of our requirements, but also gave us better budget controls. Ultimately, we are not a transport business, so outsourcing the provision of our trucks makes perfect sense.”

He added that despite the relatively short daily mileage placed on its vehicles, the rising cost of repairs and the costs associated with the LEZ it was unable to get ten years of service out of the pre-owned vehicles it had acquired at the inception of the business.
