Staveley, Chesterfield tanker operator Hopkinson Transport has been acquired by Norbert Dentressangle. Established in 1987, the hitherto family-owned firm specialises in the storage and transport of bulk powder and PVC resin, operating a fleet of 25 vehicles from Staveley and a second site at Newton Aycliffe. It employs a total of 34 drivers, warehouse and administration staff and has an annual turnover of £4m. Ripon-based Potter Group Logistics has bought York logistics firm and Palletline member House of James for an undisclosed sum. The deal, struck yesterday (16 May) boosts Potter’s turnover by 50% to £22m, adding 100,000ft² of warehousing space, 35 vehicles and 55 trailers to the fleet. Viridor Waste Management has acquired JWT Holdings, a waste collection and recycling business based in Atherton, Greater Manchester, from John William Thomasson for £7.6m. JWT Holdings employs 45 staff and handles around 70,000 tonnes of material a year. Its materials recycling facility and fleet of 29 vehicles will be integrated into Viridor’s northern region, complementing the commercial collection services of its Trafford Park Operation, says owner Pennon Group.
