Temperature-controlled specialist ACS&T has won a one-year contract with meat and poultry processor Pinnacle Foods. The contract will see ACS&T providing tri-temperature transportation and storage for Pinnacle’s pork products, collecting goods from a manufacturing plant in Guildford, Surrey and taking them to the logistic firm’s Wolverhampton hub for onward pallet distribution to nationwide wholesalers. ACS&T said squeezed rates and higher subcontracting costs in its transport operations were the main reasons for a fall in operating profit during 2014, despite a boost in turnover.
ACS&T has added 15 15.65m refrigerated longer semi-trailers to its fleet, following a successful trial with customer McCain.
