Parcelforce Worldwide has opened a new parcel sort hub in Chorley, Lancashire, as part of parent Royal Mail’s investment in growing its parcels business.

The site is capable of processing up to 120,000 parcels per day and will operate alongside its existing national and international hubs in Coventry.

Some 120 jobs have been created by the opening of the hub, and follows an investment in 12 of its depots within the last year.

MD Gary Simpson said: “The new parcel processing centre is an essential part of our investment to grow our parcels business. It will enable us to handle more parcels while ensuring we continue to provide a very high level of service."

Parcelforce recently launched a new delivery notification service.
