A significant proportion of SME managers who are put in charge of fleets of up to 50 vehicles in addition to other roles struggle to cope, according to new research

A YouGov survey of 363 senior managers at SMEs, commissioned by RAC Business Services, with responsibility for company vehicles including CVs, showed nearly 98% were juggling other jobs alongside their fleet responsibilities.

It also revealed that 55% of those looking after fleets of 10-50 vehicles were either ‘stressed’ or ‘very stressed’ by their fleet responsibilities.

Over three quarters of those surveyed said they experienced problems with employees using a company vehicle, with fuel expenses, insurance, and keeping track of vehicle use being the top three headaches.

Almost 85% said they experienced problems with the vehicles themselves, with the main issues being arranging legal requirements like annual vehicle tests and VED, sorting out insurance, and vehicle wear and tear.
