Bibby Distribution has secured a 10-year contract renewal with acrylic product designer and manufacturer Lucite International.

The multi-million pound deal will see it continue to manage operations for Lucite at Bibby's site in Walker Park, Blackburn.

The contract covers managing and consolidating inbound products, picking stock, and cutting Perspex and Lucite sheets.

It will also pack and organise products for global distribution and will use transport planning teams to manage international exports.

The operator uses a dedicated fleet of 20 vehicles to distribute Lucite's products from the 147,000 ft² site. Many of these are scheduled for replacement with more efficient EEV-rated vehicles, and a number of tri-axle curtainsided trailers have been ordered for delivery in Q2 2014.

Steve Crawford, a general manager at Bibby Distribution, said:  “One of the keys to the success of this relationship is our ability to develop a bespoke solution that covers all of Lucite’s requirements. We can handle everything from the point of production and go far beyond a standard distribution model, which helps boost efficiency for Lucite.”

“It is fantastic to have secured the contract for at least the next decade,” he added.

Bibby has held the contract since 1987. Sister company and pallet manufacturer PLS will also supply pallets to Lucite.

The operator had its contract with Seabrook Crisps renewed earlier this year.
