The FTA has urged the organisers of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer to urgently provide information to allow hauliers to plan for disruption during the completion period.
In a letter to Glasgow 2014 the association has requested detailed information outlining the impact the Commonwealth Games will have on the transport network in the city.
This includes the expected congestion and what roads are forecast to be affected and when; how public transport will be affected; details of the Games Route Network; local area traffic management and parking plans; scheduled road events; and the process for delivering into the Games venue.
The FTA’s head of policy for Scotland, Chris MacRae, said: "The freight and logistics industry will play a huge part in helping to deliver the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
“Planning is key to delivering essential food, drink and supplies not only to the event but also to the residents and businesses of the city, and in order to do so, the FTA realises that preparation is vital and is asking Glasgow 2014 for important information to help our members plan ahead of the event.”
The FTA reiterated its point that the information does not have to be perfect, but operators will be better served provided with an approximate idea of the impact sooner rather than later.
The Commonwealth Games will run from the 23 July to 3 August.
