Europa Worldwide Logistics is expanding its presence in Southampton as it looks to double the number of consignments made out of the region in the next 12 months.

The operator and freight forwarder has appointed John Moy as Southampton branch manager, alongside new account managers Gary Thorne and Peter Jaffray.

Sales director Dionne Redpath said: “Our aim is to be the UK’s clear number one groupage operator, and to achieve that we need to be number one in each geographic area of the UK. This step will assist us in achieving that goal in the Southampton area.”

Earlier this week it emerged that Europa had appointed four new directors, all formerly of RH Freight, as MD Andrew Baxter continues to build the business. Baxter, the former joint owner of RH Freight, took a 90% controlling stake in the international operator in August.

Last month Europa unveiled plans to move its presence in the south-east to a 262,500ft² site at the Prologis Park in Littlebrook, Dartford, while just before Christmas it opened a 2,500 ft² site near Leeds.
