Chester-based Edwin C Farrall Transport and Wimbledon firm ELB Partners have both been awarded silver status under Fors, TfL’s voluntary fleet recognition scheme.
Farrall MD Mike Farrall said he was delighted with the award. “The step up from bronze accreditation demonstrates to our customers, our prospective customers and the wider logistics industry that we are serious about being at the forefront in adopting best practice principles for our sector.”
ELB Partners MD Peter Eason said the award recognised the huge effort the company had put into improving its fleet – particularly its efforts to address cyclist safety and blind-spot awareness.
At the end of last month, Eason drove transport minister and local MP Stephen Hammond around London in an ELB Partners truck to highlight the challenges of delivering in the capital.
He told Motortransport.co.uk: “We will always embrace technology in trucks, if it saves one life then it has all been worth it.
“However, it would be great to have some concessions from TfL to help towards the cost of the equipment. I suggested this to Stephen Hammond by way of a two-year Congestion Charge exemption for vehicles fitted with this equipment.”
To qualify for silver status – as approximately 50 firms have done – operators need to meet criteria relating to staff training, fleet performance management, road safety, fuel consumption and emissions.
