TNT Express has spent £12m on 300 Euro-5 mid-range trucks as part of its fleet renewal programme. It has placed an outright purchase order for a total of 261 7.5 tonne trucks comprising of Daf LF45s, MAN TGL 7.150s and Iveco 75E 16s alongside a further 39 12 tonne Iveco 120 EEL18s. Connect Group saw its revenue climb 0.2% in the 20 weeks to 21 January 2017 with it parcel freight division leading the way.
DHL Express is to increase its prices to UK clients by an average of 4.9% next year as it looks to offset rising costs. The company said that the rate rise – which will hit customers throughout the world was due to external costs that are out of its direct control and cannot be compensated through productivity improvements or economies of scale. Sir Peter Hendy, commissioner at TfL, opened the fourth meeting of the Construction Logistics and Cycle Safety (Clocs) initiative with an admission: “I did not expect this activity to grow as quickly as it has.” He added later in his keynote speech: “You all work on relatively thin margins but you’re bursting with ideas about how to make things safer.”
