CitySprint is looking to recruit an additional 300 drivers in the run-up to this year’s festive period following a record 2012 Christmas, which saw more than 250,000 packages delivered.
The same-day courier said consumer confidence in last-minute online deliveries has increased, with deliveries peaking on 18 December in 2012, remaining high right up until Christmas Eve.
Patrick Gallagher, CEO, CitySprint, added that he is expected even higher volumes this year, and is working with the company’s retail customers to ensure everything runs smoothly.
“In particular, with potential significant disruption within the UK networks due to possible industrial action, we are gearing up to ensure we can provide emergency support during this period,” he said.
Earlier this year CitySprint launched same-day app MyCourier, which enables users to get quotes, make instant same-day bookings anytime, anywhere, via credit card or account as well as track deliveries in real-time.
The app is free to download and available on iTunes and Android.
