Industrial action by Unite members at Kuehne + Nagel Drinks Logistics (KNDL) has been halted, following meetings between union representatives and company managers last week, KNDL has confirmed.
The industrial action, which began with a 24 hour strike by drivers, draymen and warehouse staff on 11 September and included an indefinite ban on overtime, was prompted by a proposed reorganisation of the 3PL’s drinks distribution network. Under the reorganisation, which Unite said would lead to job losses and delivery problems, drinks distribution would be centered around three large hubs in Livingstone, Wakefield and Thatcham, supported by 23 transit points nationwide.
A spokeswoman for KNDL told Motortransport.co.uk that “considerable progress” was made during meetings with the union last week, culminating in the current industrial action being suspended.
Further meetings with the union are now scheduled over coming weeks, she added.
KNDL has declined to comment about the effects on deliveries of the 24 hour strike, which involved staff at 29 depots. It is yet to comment on whether the plan to reorganise its drinks distribution model remains in place.
