The MD of Pall-Ex has predicted the pallet network concept is due to come of age in Eastern Europe, with newly launched Pall-Ex Polska set to capitalise.

Speaking following the launch of the fifth European network under the Pall-Ex banner, Adrian Russell said that with the launch of Pall-Ex Romania in 2011 it introduced what was effectively a new concept to the region.

"Coupled with our endeavors in Romania, this steady start in Poland provides further evidence to show that the pallet network concept is one that is adaptable and of interest to the wider region.

"As the global supply chain continues to change and Central Eastern Europe continues to play an integral role in this; we forecast that Pall-Ex Polska will continue to grow and integrate itself as a backbone to the domestic distribution landscape much like we did in the UK, all those years ago."

Run by KMC Services, the 19-member network began officially operating on 13 September in Poland, joins Pall-Ex Italia, Iberia and France, which went live in May of this year, as part of the pan-European pallet network group.

Pall-Ex has previously set itself the target of having a 15-country strong European network by 2015. It is expanding using, in effect, a franchise model, which has seen a sole Principal National Partner chosen to run each country-territory with support from Pall-Ex UK.

The pallet network is in talks to launch operations in Germany, Scandinavia, Benelux and Turkey at present.
