Grampian Continental has won £500,000 in new contracts since it opened a Newcastle site last year, it has said.

The Aberdeenshire-based operator, which specialises in gas and oil transport, claimed it is winning new business each week, the majority of which has come from Aberdeen firms looking to increase their presence in the UK and on the Continent.

Sales director Gavin Murray told Motortransport.co.uk that it is also considering opening a site in Denmark, complementing its current sites in Italy, Holland and Aberdeen.

“We’ve looked at Denmark because we are seeing a lot of business in that area,” Murray said.

It is also looking to work with companies close to the site in Bedlington, Newcastle, where it hopes to increase its fleet based at that site from three to five by the end of 2013.
