The United Pallet Network (UPN) has launched a mobile App, providing customers and depots alike with a track and trace service.

The App, developed in-house, allows the tracking of palletised goods through their journey from collection, to UPN’s Lichfield hub, to final delivery via the input of a consignment number and postcode.

Martyn Chapman, chairman at UPN, said: “Following the successful implementation of our new depot barcode scanning system, we have been able to track freight very precisely.

“This new application is a natural progression, as today’s consumers do not want to spend time chasing suppliers to ask for information that could be provided in a simpler way.”

Chapman said the App had been developed with the membership, with “very positive feedback” to date.

The App also integrates with Google Maps and Street View, allowing users to check the delivery destination at street level. UPN plans to incorporate consignment entry and credit card payment options into the App in future versions.

It can be downloaded for free and works on iPad, iPhone, and smartphones running Android or Windows.
