Bedfords Iveco

West-Yorkshire haulier Bedfords saw a 67% year-on-year drop in pre-tax profit in its most recent financial year, despite a 6.2% rise in turnover.

For the year-ending 30 September 2012 pre-tax profit at Bedfords Holdings – which comprises of transport arm Bedfords as well as Linq Alliance - fell to £300,597, from £929,391 in the previous financial year. Turnover rose slightly to £26.6m, from £25m a year ago.

MD Steff Pfeadenhauer said he was not prepared to comment on the results at this time but the directors’ report, filed to Companies House, said the business had come through “another recessionary year in good health”.

It added that taking into consideration the “constant downward pressure” on margins that the recession has caused “the directors believe that the results are extremely credible”.

As well as being the 100% shareholder of haulage consortium Linq Alliance, Bedfords is a member of the PalletForce network.
