A 55% rise in turnover at Norbert Dentressangle’s UK group company Norbert Dentressangle Logistics was achieved last year as a result of cost reductions, new business and the first full year’s effect of the acquisition of TDG in October 2011.
ND Logistics’ turnover rose from £413.7m to £640.2m during the year for the year ending 31 December 2012. Pre-tax profit rose 9.78% from £10.5m to £11.5m in the same period.
Commenting on the results, ND Logistics’ directors said the business had “performed well” in 2012, adding: “The general economic climate is still difficult and looks likely to continue to be difficult throughout the coming year. However, the directors aim to maintain and further develop the policies that have resulted in the growth of the logistics business in recent years.”
The UK was ND’s second biggest market in 2012, accounting for 32% of the group’s €3.88bn (£3.2bn) total turnover; ND Logistics’ 2012 turnover equated to 20% of this group total.
- Norbert Dentressangle has reported a slight fall in group turnover in the first quarter of 2013. Turnover in the first three months of the year reached €949m (£790m), down 1% on Q1 2012. A 4.1% fall in turnover for the transport division was offset by a 3.4% increase in the logistics business during the quarter. ND chairman Hervé Montjotin described the performance as “solid… despite a deteriorating economic environment since the start of 2013”.
