Yearsley Group has officially opened its new Hams Hall ‘superhub’ at Coleshill, in the West Midlands. Retailer Marks & Spencer has confirmed that its new DC in Castle Donington in the East Midlands will open this spring. The 900,000ft² site, which M&S will run itself, will create around 1,000 new jobs over time, said a company spokesman.
The amount of warehousing space being built must rise fivefold if the UK is to keep pace with the e-commerce market, according to research by law firm Addleshaw Goddard.
Whether they have been forced to consider second-hand space because of a lack of new buildings or prefer it for cost reasons, occupiers have become used to a wide choice of warehouses. Now, however, they are facing a reduced supply.
