Pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca has renewed its European distribution contract with Yusen Logistics.Yusen delivers nearly 200,000 pallets of prescription drugs every year for the manufacturer, using its temperature-controlled fleet.

The products are picked up from AstraZeneca’s manufacturing plants and third-party manufacturers, and delivered to nearly 300 locations across Europe. It also delivers in-bound products arriving from locations across the globe.

Yusen has held the contract since 2007 and allows AstraZeneca to consolidate loads from multiple plants, as well as with 30 other pharmaceutical manufacturers within Yusen’s network.

Julian Wann, global category lead: freight & logistics at AstraZeneca, said: “We are looking for freight suppliers who bring valued solutions whilst continually delivering improvement in process and service, we feel that Yusen Logistics has delivered on all counts and therefore merit the extension to the current agreement.

"We look forward to developing the current relationship more as our business demands it”.
