Container haulier Goldstar Transport saw an 8.6% increase in turnover and a pre-tax profit rise of 35% in the 12 months ending 31 July 2012.

The Felixstowe-based haulier, which has depots in Tilbury, Rochester, Southampton, Bristol, Liverpool, Birmingham and Wakefield, said in its annual report that turnover rose from £65.4m in the previous financial year to £71m.

Pre-tax profit increased to £2.1m from £1.6m in 2011.

In the report the firm added that gross profit margin had increased to 11.5%, despite increasing fuel costs. This was mainly due to improvements in its vehicle fleet.

Goldstar declined to comment further on their financial results.
