After unveiling double-digit rises in turnover and profit, Turners (Soham) has continued on the upward curve by securing a new five-year contract with Omya UK, one of the country's leading producers of calcium carbonate.

The deal for the management and movement of fine powder products, includes a Turners' team based at Omya's site at Melton near Hull operating a specialised fleet of 30 trucks and 40 pressurised tankers.

The Newmarket, Suffolk-based operator has been working with Omya since 2006, delivering around 250,000 tonnes of powder products annually.

It reported a 11.9% jump in turnover to just under £235m in the 12 months to 31 December 2011, while pre-tax profit rose 12.5% to £24.3m.
