Meachers Global Logistics has made its biggest investment in LGVs this year, after it splashed out £1.25m on 16 new Mercedes-Benz tractors.

The modernisation programme will see the company taking delivery of the Mercedes Actros trucks in the months leading up to Christmas.

They will operate out of Meachers’ headquarters in Nursling, Southampton and also its Derby depot, undertaking general haulage work throughout the UK.

The company said the vehicles were chosen for their economical and environmental performance, as well as their reliability.

“We have ambitious plans for the future of our business and our long-term strategy reflects the need to continually evolve in order to meet the changing needs of the workplace,” said MD Stuart Terris.

“This requires a continued investment in our equipment, our facilities and our people.”

Meachers has a policy of renewing its fleet vehicles every three to five years.
