Online retailer Amazon will open another three DCs across the UK, following the opening of its Hemel Hempstead depot last week.

The opening of the new depots are expected to create a further 2,000 jobs over the next two years, with 800 permanent positions created at the Hemel Hempstead fulfilment centre.

"We have created thousands of jobs in the UK over the last few years and are delighted to announce that we plan to create thousands more in the next 24 months,” said Christopher North, MD at Amazon.co.uk.

The online retailing giant currently has DCs in, Milton Keynes, Doncaster, Peterborough, Rugeley in Staffordshire , Dunfermline, Gourock in Scotland and Swansea.

In August CollectPlus, a joint venture between Yodel and Paypoint, signed a deal with Amazon that will see parcels delivered to one of its  5,000  member stores across the UK.
