Former Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles MD Ian Jones has become a non-executive director at Stroud, Gloucestershire-based family-owned distribution firm Howard Tenens.

Howard Tenens chairman and chief executive, Peter Morris, said: “Ian’s breadth of experience in the global commercial vehicle industry will add significant value to Howard Tenens.”

Jones said he was “delighted” to be taking on the new role with  Howard Tenens.

"They have demonstrated that they are at the leading edge of many aspects of the changing world of transport – from early adoption of new technologies to proving extremely innovative in creating and tailoring transport solutions for a variety of customers,” he said.

“Howard Tenens has earned its reputation for service, flexibility, customer care, value for money and environmental credibility and I am delighted to be able contribute to its future development.”

Jones, who was arrested in September 2010 as part of a criminal  investigation into possible price-fixing among commercial vehicle manufacturers by the Office of Fair Trading but never charged, left Mercedes-Benz after a period of personal leave early this year.

The OFT dropped its criminal investigations into Jones and the commercial vehicle manufacturers late last year.
