The winners of the first Women in Logistics awards were revealed at a glittering ceremony in Kenilworth, Warwicks, last week.
Adele Waite, general manager of a $1.25bn global contract for DHL, won the award for outstanding individual achievement, after boosting return-on-capital growth by 740%.
The corporate award was won by Premier Farnell, a global, multi-channel distributor whose chief executive, Harriet Green, was named in the FT’s Top 50 Women in Business. Green also employs a female chairwoman and head of global supply.
Ruth Waring, founder of Women in Logistics, says: "We were bowled over by both the volume and calibre of entries for our first awards.
"It's a shame that each category can only have one winner, but Adele and Premier Farnell can be very proud of their awards, knowing that they were hotly contested and well-deserved."
Women in Logistics is a not-for-profit organisation created in 2008 to provide networking and career development support for women working in the sector. It has 2,800 members, both male and female.
A charity raffle on the night raised £8,000 for Transaid.
