Viridor Waste Management has acquired JWT Holdings, a waste collection and recycling business based in Atherton, Greater Manchester, from John William Thomasson for £7.6m.
JWT Holdings employs 45 staff and handles around 70,000 tonnes of material a year.
Its materials recycling facility and fleet of 29 vehicles will be integrated into Viridor's northern region, complementing the commercial collection services of its Trafford Park Operation, says owner Pennon Group.
The acquisition will provide excellent synergies with Viridor’s activities in Manchester and across the North West, says Viridor chief executive Colin Drummond.
It will also be earnings enhancing in its first full year.
Last November, Viridor Waste Management bought waste logistics and transport firm JWS Churngold for £14.25m.
