Wincanton has won a contract with Kiddicare to handle the fulfilment of the retailer’s new superstores, including its new flagship Peterborough store.

Kiddicare, owned by supermarket giant Morrisons, currently generates 85% of business through online orders, but following the acquisition of a number of former Best Buy sites in January, it is looking to expand its service to become a multichannel operation.

Wincanton will re-fit its 200,000sq² site in Daventry, Northants, to receive, and pick and pack millions of items annually for the new Kiddicare outlets, as well as the business’s online orders. The latter will continue to be dispatched direct to the customer from the company’s Peterborough DC.

Grant Henley, Kiddicare operations director, says: “We needed to find a supply chain partner who we could trust to manage a complex and rapid warehouse start-up that also had the experience and ability to meet the challenges of a multichannel sales environment.”

Guy Elliott, Wincanton MD, contract logistics, adds: “For a company like this to choose Wincanton is testament to our industry-leading credentials in the retail sector, expertise in delivering multichannel solutions and our ability to implement full-service logistics solutions quickly and efficiently.”
