Transport for London (TfL) has changed the name of its operator recognition scheme to encourage greater take up amongst smaller firms.
The Freight Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS), which was launched in April 2008, has now been rebranded as the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme in a bid to broaden its appeal.
A TfL spokesman says: “TfL has recently changed the name of the Freight Operator Recognition Scheme to be the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme, to help encourage more small and medium sized businesses working across London to sign up to the initiative.”
FORS is a free reward and recognition initiative aimed at improving fleet and vehicle operational efficiency. Its first gold standard members were revealed in February.
TfL also promotes it as potentially advantageous for operators to possess when tendering for business within the capital.
FORS, which is open to any type and size of operation running vans and lorries in London, passed the 1,000 member mark earlier this year. It now has more than 93,000 vehicles registered under the scheme.
